What do you do?
Where are you from?
출신을 물을 때는 보통 Where are you from? I’m from Korea. I’m from Busan, in Korea. (I’m Korean). I’m from Korean이라고 하지 않습니다.
I’m from Daegu, but I live in Seoul now(대구 출신인데 지금은 서울에 살아요). Where do you live? 상대가 모르는 지명을 말하면 Oh, where is that?(그게 어디예요?)이나 What is it like there?(거기는 어때요?)
What do you do?
What do you do? I’m a 뒤에 직업을 붙여 대답합니다. I’m a nurse. I’m an engineer. 모음 소리 앞에서는 an을 씁니다: an engineer, an English teacher. I work for a bank(은행에서 일해요). I work in marketing(마케팅 일을 해요). I work in the design team, Carla는 I’m in the marketing team이라고 말합니다.
I’m a student. I study biology at Korea University(고려대에서 생물학을 공부해요). I’m in high school(고등학생이에요)처럼 대답합니다. I’m looking for a job right now(지금 일자리를 찾고 있어요)처럼 짧고 솔직하게 말해도 괜찮습니다. 그다음 How about you?나 And what do you do? How are you?
