How are you? e come rispondere
How are you? fa spesso parte del saluto e la risposta abituale richiede due secondi: Fine, thanks. And you?
Dopo hello, chi parla inglese spesso chiede come stai. How are you?
Fine, thanks. And you? I’m good, thanks. How are you? Not bad, thanks. You? L'altra persona risponderà in modo altrettanto breve: Good, thanks.
Se non ti senti benissimo, puoi comunque rispondere in modo breve e sincero: Not too bad. Oppure A bit tired, but OK. Con un amico stretto puoi dire di più: Honestly, not great. I have a cold.
Amici e colleghi usano spesso forme informali. How’s it going? e How are you doing? significano la stessa cosa di how are you. Rispondi allo stesso modo: Good, thanks! What’s up? Not much oppure Nothing much. You? Non rispondere a What’s up? con Fine, thanks, perché non è una domanda su come stai.
Quando incontri qualcuno dopo molto tempo puoi dire Long time no see! How have you been? I started a new job.
Sorridi e di' Good, thanks! mentre passi.
